Dream Cookies Recipe

Dream Cookies

I saw some interesting cookies in a dream, but I woke up before I could eat any.

I wrote this recipe to make cookies that look like them in real life, and I think they're delicious.

The process involves making two different types of dough.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ingredients
1 stick of butter (1/2 cup), softened
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract or imitation vanilla flavoring
1 egg
1 and 1/8 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Strawberry Cookie Dough Ingredients
1 package of any strawberry cake mix
2 eggs
3/4 cup of shortening

Strawberry Cookie Dough Ingredients

Both types of dough

Part 1: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

First, make the chocolate chip cookie dough.

(If you have a different recipe that you like for chocolate chip cookies, you can use that instead, but it's a must that you use brown sugar. Brown sugar for the chocolate chip dough increases the visual contrast against the strawberry dough, and more importantly, the taste will complement the strawberry taste much better that way.)

1. Beat the butter, brown sugar, and vanilla in a large mixer bowl

2. Add the egg and beat.

3. Add the flour, baking soda, and salt and beat again.

4. Mix in the chocolate chips.

Set this dough aside for now.

Part 2: Strawberry Cookie Dough

Mix together the three strawberry cookie dough ingredients in a separate bowl.

Don't worry if the dough is pretty stiff. That's fine!

Part 3: Rolling and Baking

Line your baking sheets with parchment paper, and pre-heat your oven to 350 F.

Pick up about a tablespoon of chocolate chip dough and about a tablespoon of strawberry dough. Roll the two together into a ball in your hands, and set it on the tray.

Rolled-up dough

Repeat for all the cookies. There should be five or six trays full. Bake for 14 minutes at 350 F.

If you want to make crazy patterns, go for it! If you roll them up simply, as in the photo above, they'll come out looking like the cookies in my dream.

Just be careful not to make the cookies too small, because small ones usually don't turn out soft enough.

One big cookie and two small ones

Above: The cookies on the right are each about one tablespoon of dough. They aren't as soft as the cookie on the left.

Below: Right on!

By the way, the dream was boring! The cookies are better.
~Enjoy!~
